Sir John Chichester of Hall, Kent (1598-1669)

British (English) School. Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Chichester of Hall, Kent (1598-1669), British (English) School, mid 17th century. A half-length portrait of Sir John Chichester in half armour. He is turned slightly towards the left and looks out at the spectator. He wears a breast plate and a leather coat underneath, a white cravat at the neck and a scarlet sash around his waist. His left arm is bent at the elbow and he is apparently resting his hand on his hip. He wears a mid-length brown wig and a building of some kind can be seen behind him. Arlington Court, Devon
