Traffic in Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and the financial district was stopped. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, November 11, 1918, when the celebration of the Armistice was at its height. A Chicago newspaper said: "Chicago turned topsy turvy today. Babel at its worst could not have been worse than Chicago was today."
