Image description

President Wilson and President Poincare leaving railway station December 14, 1918, on the occasion of Wilson's arrival in Paris to take part in the Peace Conference. In state carriages the American president and his entourage were driven through the Champs Elysees and principal thoroughfares to the residence of Prince Murat, where President Wilson lived during his first stay in France. The boulevards through which the distinguished guest drove were lined with French troops. It was estimated that one million spectators greeted him on this occasion. Illustration for US Official Pictures of the World War, showing America's Participation, selected from the official files of the War Department by William E Moore and James C Russell (Pictoria Bureau, 1920). Gravure printed.
