Baldwin: CEWB notes in diary 66 that on the evening of the 25th November 1916 he picked up Baldwin, then the following day: 'Went to 2nd and 1st Bns in Fleselles and St Saveur.' 2nd Bn left Flesselles 1 Dec 1916 JG 17/12/13. This image has for many years been shown incorrectly, its orientation being based on the turn up of the soldiers hat flap. It would seem that the soldier is in fact either wearing his hat back to front, or turned up on the wrong side. The action cover on the rifle should fasten with press studs on the left. An examination of the original negative confirms this view, with regard to the orientation of the emulsion layer. (Edwin Ride 26/03/2013).
