ETHNIC MINORITY HILL TRIBE REFUGEES BEGIN JOURNEY TO THE UNITED STATES, 2002-04-16 (photo)

Ethnic minority hill tribe refugees from Vietnam ride on a military truck in Kampong Cham province, 90km northeast of Phnom Penh on April 15, 2002, on the second leg of a journey to resettle them in the United States. Over 1,000 hill tribe refugees fled to Cambodia in the past year from Vietnam's Central Highlands after Hanoi sent troops to quell their protests for land rights and religious. The U.S. recently agreed to resettle all 905 of the refugees still sheltering in United Nations refugees camps in northeastern Cambodia.
