The Giant dates from the 15th century. Popularly known as St Christopher he was the pageant figure for the Taylors guild. The museum purchased him for 30 shillings from the guild in 1870. His companion, the Hob-Nob, was the mischievous character who cavorted in front in the procession clearing the way for the Giant. This is a 19th-century photograph taken outside the old museum building in St Ann Street.
