The mascot of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Many regiments of the British Army are the proud possessors of mascots, which are often in evidence at ceremonial parades. The Royal Warwickshire Regiment boasts a black buck, the choice of this animal being no doubt determined by the fact that an antelope is incorporated in the regimental badge. The custom of keeping mascots has long been countenanced in the British Army, and other famous examples are the Irish wolfhound of the Irish Guards and the goat of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders have a pony as their regimental mascot.
