Albert Renger-Patzsch
German photographer, 1897-1966
Born 22 June 1897; died 27 September 1966. In 1922 Renger-Patzsch became the director of the picture department of the Folkwang Archive and the Auriga Verlag. In 1923 he headed the department of Visual Propaganda in Berlin, Germany. From 1925 to 1928 Renger-Patzsch set up a studio in Bad Harzburg, Germany and worked as a freelance photographer producing documentary and press photographs. In 1928 Renger-Patzsch moved to Essen, Germany, and from 1933 to 1934 he taught at and ran the Pictorialist Photography department at the Folkwangschule there.
