Illustration titled 'London Interiors', the original staircase with an early 18th century decoration, at Carlisle House, built in 1675 for the first Earl of Carlisle on his Soho estate. The residence is reputed to have been the lodging house of Dr Manette in Dickens' 'Tale of Two Cities'. Published in The Sunday Times on 29 August 1926.
