Image description: MM. Albert Thomas et Kerensky rendant a la manifestation du 1er Mai, au Champ de Mars, Petrograd. Albert Thomas (1878-1932) was a prominent French Socialist and the first Minister of Armament for the French Third Republic during World War I. Alexander Fyodorovich Kerensky (1881-1970) was a lawyer and major political leader before the Russian Revolutions of 1917 belonging to a moderate socialist party, called Trudoviks. With the overthrow of the tsarist autocracy in Russia, Thomas was sent in April 1917 to Petrograd (now St. Petersburg) to work with the Russian provisional government under Aleksandr Kerensky on the production of munitions in an attempt by France to maintain cooperation with the new Russian republic.
