Blanche Edwards Pilliet (1858-1941) et cinq internes; French physician; English born father; intern under Jean-Martin Charcot (1825-93); member of the League for the Rights of Women; Blanche Edwards-Pilliet was a pioneer female doctor in France during the Belle Epoque and together with Augusta Klumpke was the first woman to be named as interns in a Paris hospital; this was an important step in the advancement of the status of women in the medical profession; later in the first decade of the 20th century, she became an activist for the rights of women, especially for the rights of the mothers and children;
