Dr ZL Mkhize and Dr M Buthelezi, at anti-apartheid stalwart and freedom fighter Johnstone "Johnny" Mfanafuthi Makhathini's reburial ceremony at the Pietermaritzburg Woodburn stadium on 27 February 2010. Makhathini died in Zambia in 1988. He was the Director of the ANC's Department of International Affairs and was one of the principal organisers of the Conference of March 1961 addressed by former South African President Nelson Mandela. While in exile Makhathini worked with anti apartheid activists such as Reverend Trevor Huddleston at the UN and US Civil Rights Leader, Reverend Jesse Jackson.
