Jesus Christ is lying on the ground, lifeless, surrounded by his loved ones, who cry despairing, in a barren countryside; on the left, the group is made by women, mostly veiled, among which emerges one with clasped hands, just above the Virgin Mary that caresses her dead son; further to the right are Mary of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene, the latter holding the feet of Christ; John the Apostle expresses its sorrow theatrically in front of the more content Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea; In the sky, flying little angels are involved in grief, while in the decorative band on the right is represented Jonah swallowed by the whale.
