Sita and Rama lie on one mat, his sword and bow beside him, while Laksmana seated on his mat reproves Rama for giving way to grief. At the bottom, they then proceed to the hermitage of Bharadvaja, on the bank of the Ganga at Prayaga where the Ganga and Yamuna meet. In this peaceful place, abounding in deer and bird life, they offer homage to the hermits and ask the advice of the great sage aSita where they might fix their dwelling in the forest, so that they might not be disturbed. He advises the travellers to seek out the Citrakuta mountain sixty miles to the west, a lovely spot abounding in fruit, flowers and animals, and much frequented by hermits.
