British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Hall speaks to reporters outside a high-security prison in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta on April 22, 2003. Hall, who met jailed British gunrunner Peter Bleach on Tuesday, said that British Prime Minister Tony Blair had written twice to Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Bleach was convicted in an illegal air arms drop case in 2000. Five Russian and Latvian aircrew were released later in 2000 after New Delhi heeded pleas from old ally Moscow for clemency.
