JORGEN SCHLUND SPEAKS AT A WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION PRESS CONFERENCE ABOUT THE CANCER CAUSING ACRYLAMIDE FOUND IN CARBOHYDRATE-RICH FOODS. International food safety experts said on Thursday that fatty foods may be cancer-causing but a final verdict needed more research. The 25 specialists, mainly from Europe, the United States and Japan were summoned to Geneva after researchers in Sweden found high levels of acrylamide, a cancer-causing substance in animals, and in carbohydrate-rich foods such as potato crisps.
