PHOTO TAKEN 18OCT01, "Mumbles", a 26-year-old US Navy pilot of F-14 Tomcat jet fighter waves to a flight deck crew member from the cockpit of her jet October 18, 2001 onboard the USS Carl Vinson, one of at least three U.S. Navy aircraft carrier battle groups in the Arabian Sea. "Mumbles", her Navy call-sign name, lived for 22 years in southern England before returning to the US to join the Navy and learn how to fly jet fighters. She flies with the Black Lions Squadron and has bombed Afghanistan almost every day since the war began on October 7. Photograph taken October 18, 2001.
