Marcel Duchamp was born in Blainville-Crevon, France in 1887, and he is seen today as the artist who, together with Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, helped define new developments in plastic art, Dada, and surrealism. He moved to New York in 1942 and died in Neuilly-sur-Seine close to Paris in 1968.;Shusaku Arakawa was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1936 and was a conceptual artist as well as an architect.
