David Mercer (1928 – 1980) English playwright.He started his career as a dramatist in the 1960s by writing three trilogies for television, the best known single play being Morgan, A Suitable Case for Treatment (1962) which was also made into a film. His stage plays include Ride a Cock Horse (1965) and Belcher's Luck (1966). He wrote two further trilogies for television in the 1970s. He is regarded as one of the most political and left-wing dramatists of the period.
