Killed by an explosive package. In Strasbourg, Mrs. Marie Tremeaud, the wife of the prefect of the Lower Rhine, was about to go to breakfast with six guests who were already in the dining room of the official apartment, when she stopped for a moment to open a package addressed to her husband. As soon as the cord is cut, the device (the envelope contained a box full of explosives) burst, tearing the lady's body apart. The attack is believed to have been prepared by North African terrorists against the Tremeaud, who for three years was prefect of Algiers. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 2 June 1957.
