The Pope is dead (colour litho)

The Pope is dead. In the papal palace of Castelgandolfo, where he was for his usual period of rest, following an attack of thrombosis, Pius XII died. The end of the Holy Father, which came after anxious alternatives of alarms and hopes, deeply and painfully impressed the whole world. In the table dedicated to the mournful event, the painter Walter Molino portrays the dying Pontiff, surrounded by some of the people who were close to him at the time of his passing.
