As the banners of the four minority journalist associations decorate the podium, U.S. Vice President Al Gore speaks to more than 6,000 journalists attending the UNITY'99 Conference at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle July 9. The conference is the largest of its kind with international attendance by members of four minority journalist organizations including the National Association of Black Journalists (NABA), Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), Native American Journalists Association (NAJA) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHA).
