Video description

PAN, exterior, daylight. Generalife Palace was the summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid Sultans of Granada. The palace and gardens were built during the reign of Muhammad III (1302-1309) and redecorated by the king Abu I-Walid Isma'il (1313-1324). Throughout the Christian period the complex was remodeled several times. The present-day gardens were planned in 1931-1951 under architect Francisco Prieto Moreno. The central pools are in the shape of a cross, typical of many Muslim gardens. Alhambra was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
