Video description

PAN, LA, CU, interior and exterior, daylight. View through an arched doorway, from the North Gallery to the South Gallery. The Court of the Myrtles (Patio de los Arrayanes) was named after the myrtle bushes that surround the central pond. This was the focal point of diplomatic and political activity in the Alhambra. The court and the building around it were built during the reign of the Nasrid rulers Yusuf I (1333-54) and his son Muhammad V (1354-59; 1362-91). The floor was enlarged in the late 16th century. Alhambra was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
