Aug. 16, 1954 - Training at Folkestone forr Cross Channel Swim Competitors in Butlin's International Cross Channel Swimming race, were to be seen training today in the open air pool at Folkestone. The youngest competitor, Miss Margaret Feather, 21, of Scarborough, said today that she will not cover her body with grease when she swims. She is doing this on advice of Jim Heath, her manager, who will also act as her pilot. He claims that grease is only a psychological aid to stop swimmers feeling the cold in the watere and hopes Margaret will prove this during her swim. She does insist on wearing makeuo when she enters the water saying “I do not only want to feel like a lady but look like one!” Last year Margaret was a vegetarian gave this up after going to Cairo with Mr, Heath to enter for the Nile Marathon.
