Farming body Meat & Livestock Australia staged the free lunchtime barbecue to thank Australians for their support of the local lamb industry after the U.S. government introduced tough tariffs in July against lamb imported from Australia and New Zealand. Figures released earlier this week reveal a 29 percent increase nationally in lamb consumption after producers had asked Australians to increase their consumption of the product in response to the tariff.
