Special representative for Kosovo, Bernard Kouchner (R) talks to three key Kosovo Albanian leaders, former rebel head Hashim Thaqi (2nd R) and longtime political figure Ibrahim Rugova (3th R), and Redxhep Qosja (4th R) and a representative of Kosovo's Serbs Rada Trajkovic, a doctor and politician, during a meeting in Pristina April 11. A representative of Kosovo's Serbs took her place on Tuesday at a council meeting with ethnic Albanian leaders, ending a boycott of multi-ethnic institutions which lasted more than six months. Serb leaders quit the Yugoslav province's fledgling postwar institutions last September, accusing international authorities of not doing enough to protect the Serb minority and bowing to Albanian political pressure.
