Image description

Prime Minister Ehud Barak kneels as he tries to comfort Sosh Malcha, mother of Staff Sargeant Tsachi Malcha, 21, one of three Israeli soldiers killed yesterday in southern Lebanon, as he pays a condolence call on the family February 1. The soldiers were killed in an attack on their base by the pro-Iranian and Syrian-backed Hizbollah forces. Behind is Asher Greeenberg, the step-father of the killed soldier. Barak vowed to withdraw Israeli troops from southern Lebanon by July and not to buckle under to Hizbollah's attacks in his pursuit of the peace process with Syria. JWH
