Forshaw collection 3: Travelling through Thailand Part 1 1958

Filmmaker: Michael Forshaw This film records a journey through Thailand by train, car and boat. It starts with shots of a steam engine loaded with coal, moving along a track. A sign identifies Sala Pha Lat Railway Station. Women are selling fruit at side of a passenger train. Footage is then taken from a moving car, showing street scenes, including a Shell sign (Forshaw worked for Shell), There are other cars, bicycles and rickshaws on the road. There are brief shots of the exterior of the Railway Terminus Hotel followed by scenes at a temple, showing monks and visitors.
