Pall bearers carry the body of Britain's emeritus chief rabbi Lord Immanuel Jakobovits wrapped in a prayer shalw as they climb stairs in the Mount of Olives cemetery overlooking the walled Old City November 1. Lord Jakobovits, 78, and died suddenly in London yesterday. Lord Jakobovits served as chief rabbi of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the British Commonwealth from 1967 until 1991 when he was replaced by the current chief rabbi, Jonathan Sacks. In th late 1950's rabbi Jakobovits was the founding rabbi of the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in New York City. The golden Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount is at top, center. JWH
