Newborn stars blasting intense radiation have managed to blow a monster bubble in a nearby galaxy, scientists using the Hubble Space Telescope reported March 28, 2001. A new image of infant stars in a stellar nursery in the Large Magellanic Cloud - a neighboring galaxy to the Milky Way - shows how these massive cosmic babies generate powerful winds to change the shape of their surroundings, according to a NASA statement. The spherical bubble formed by the young stars is located in the nebula N83B, also known as NGC 1748. The stars are so massive - one of them is 30 times as massive as the Earth's Sun, and about 200,000 times as bright - that they evolve quickly, which complicates the image-making process. ME
