A Royal Mail Glasgow-to-London travelling post office (TPO) train was stopped in Buckinghamshire by means of tampered signals, and £2.3 million in used notes was stolen. Here, we see broken glass on the floor from the window the robbers smashed to get into the mail coach. Jack Mills, the train driver, was hit on the head with an iron bar. He recovered but suffered constant trauma headaches for the rest of his life and died in 1970.
