Italian KFOR soldiers display a seized heavy machine gun believed to be bound for ethnic Albanian rebels in southern Serbia in Pristina May 11, 2001. A special Italian Carabinieri unit on Thursday night stopped a truck in the western Kosovo town of Pec filled with 52 rocket launchers, 12 anti-tank rocket launchers, five anti-aircraft missiles, five sniper rifles, one 82-mm cannon, one 82-mm mortar, related ammunition and three machine guns. The rebel group known as the Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac, or by its Albanian acronym UCPMB, has used a post-war buffer zone outside Kosovo as a safe haven for attacks on Serbian forces since early 2000.
