Lancement du paquebot Queen Mary, le 26 septembre 1936. Launch of the TS Queen Mary', 26 September 1935. Launch of this famous transatlantic liner. Built at Clydebank for Cunard White Star Ltd, the Queen Mary had accommodation on a luxurious scale for 776 first-class, 784 tourist and 579 third-class passengers, with 1101 officers and crew. This view from the midships to the bow shows first-class, officers' and crew accommodation, bridge, sports deck, car deck, and the ship's boilers and holds. She won the Blue Riband for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic in 1936 and 1938, taking only 3 days, 20 hours and 42 minutes on the latter attempt (a mean speed of 31.7 knots), and served as a troopship in World War II. ©SSPL/Manchester Daily Express
