One man holds on to a tree branch to steady himself as a young boy clambers on to the bollard with him.The London demonstration was possibly the culmination of a lengthy hunger march (marche de la faim). Such marches were a feature of the economic depression (depression economique) in Britain during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
