Relatives of a soldier killed in combat cry alongside his coffin in Bogota June 25, 2001, during the funeral of 12 soldiers killed last weekend. Leftist guerrillas from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) killed 30 soldiers in clashes in Colombia on last Friday, even as the government released three more rebels as part of a landmark prisoner swap to revive peace talks, the army said. The fighting, which resulted in the highest death toll sustained by the army in the last eight months, also killed 26 FARC rebels, Latin America's oldest and most powerful insurgency group. JMG/RCS
