SOUTH KOREAN OPPOSITION PARTY MEMBERS GUARD AGAINST RULING PARTY IN SEOUL, 1999-01-07 (photo)

South Korean opposition Grand National Party (GNP) members, wearing masks to signify their silent disgust over the ruling party, talk among themselves while forming a blockade to prevent the ruling Nation Congress for New Politics (NCNP) lawmakers from entering the main hall of the National Assembly in Seoul January 7. The GNP have blocked the NCNP lawmakers from entering the main hall to prevent them from getting the majority votes they need to pass a number of bills. The GNP are boycotting participation in the National Assembly until President Kim Dae-jung apologises on behalf of a government spy agency whom the GNP allege have spied on their party. PB/CC/AA
