Portrait of the French-Swiss architect, city planner and painter Le Corbusier is working on a plan, undated picture. Le Corbusier (actually Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, 1887 - 1965), was one of the defining architects of the twentieth century. He contributed substantially to the implementation of the functional 'International Style' based on cubic shapes and influenced and shaped the rationalistic architecture. Corbusier designed various furniture, which are nowadays considered classical design icons, published groundbreaking theoretical texts and left an extensive pictorial art work behind.
