For now temporary parapets like this will become permanent trench systems; houses, trees and feilds will be laid to waste . The 129th (Duke of Connaught's own) Baluchis (Lahore Division) on the out-skirts of Wytschaete, on 30th October 1914. The Indian Corps served on the western front for the first year of the war. In November 1915 they were trasferred to Mesopatamia, an area mor situated to their experiences and training, and also nearer their base depots. Some Indian cavalry units remined in France.
