THREE SOUTH KOREANS HOLD GOLD JEWELLERY IN SEOUL, 1998-01-05 (photo)

Three South Korean employees of the Daewoo Group display gold jewellery they plan to sell to Daewoo Corp as they wait in line at the group's headquarters in Seoul January 5. Daewoo and the Housing and Commercial Bank launched a campaign on Monday to collect gold from people who want to help tackle the country's financial troubles. Customers, employees and concerned citizens may bring in their gold jewellery which will eventually be melted into gold bars, exported abroad, and sold for desperately needed foreign currency. Daewoo and the bank then deposits an equivalent amount of Korean won into the customers bank account. KOREA GOLD
