A half-length portrait of a young man, facing right, wearing a brown (or dark red) coat and stock, both hands resting on a book. A copy of the portrait painted on his departure from Eton, where he was a pupil from 1766 to 1771. It had become customary for Eton boys to present 'leaving portraits' to the headmaster of the school, where the original, of this autograph replica, still hangs.
