The Separation of Norway and Sweden in 1905 (colour litho)

Sweden and Norway or Sweden–Norway (Swedish: Svensk-norska unionen; Norwegian: Den svensk-norske union), officially the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway, was a personal union of the separate kingdoms of Sweden and Norway under the Swedish monarch during the period between 1814 and 1905. Each continued their own separate laws, legislatures, administrations, state churches, armed forces, and currency but the king's palace and foreign embassies were in Stockholm, Norway was often directed by Swedish viceroys, and the kingdoms' unitary foreign policy was conducted through the Swedish foreign ministry until late in the 19th century.
