Sold at auction at Christie's, 23/02/1983. Karl Heinrich Marx (1818-1883) German philosopher, economist and politician. In 1844, in Paris, he came into contact with the first communist organisations and in February 1848, in collaboration with Friedrich ENGELS, wrote the "Communist Party Manifesto".In August 1849, he settled permanently in London where he actively participated in the foundation of the "1st International" (1864) and published numerous economic, historical and philosophical studies which led to "Capital", the first volume of which was published in 1867.
