The third at the South Pole. Sir Edmund Hillary, the New Zealander who on 31 May 1953 with Nepalese Tenzing Norkay called Everest for the first time, who left with four compatriots from Scott's base, after a march of more than 2000 kilometers through the desolate and unknown lands of Antarctica, it reached the South Pole. Painter Walter Molino imagines that the shadows of those who preceded them at the Antarctic Pole 46 years ago appeared to the most daring explorers, the great Norwegian Roald Amundsen and the heroic Englishman Robert Falcon Scott, perished on the way back.
