Image title
Jun 06, 1953 - Weathervane Used in Church Appeal. Needing, 000 for repairs to his church, the Rev. Williamson, Vicar of St. Paul's with St. Mark (Church for Seamen), Dock street, E.1, is touring his parish this week appealing for funds. He is seen here with the weathervane from the church steeple which had to be taken down and repaired - starting on a tour of part of his parish. The weathervane, which is made of cooper in the form of a ship, has been on the steeple for more than 100 years, and is being pushed round on a specially constructed carrier, and the Vicar's appeal is for ship halfpennies to help defray toe cost of its repair. The ship weathervane is to be fixed back on the steeple in two weeks time. The steeple is in background.
