Dec. 12, 1953 - Swiss girl arrested in connection with gold that vanished from an aircraft - American Air Captain Harold Dahl and his Swiss girl friend Miss Ella Eppenberger were arrested recently in Paris in connection with the disappearance of a box containing gold weighing 56 lbs. and valued at 130,000 Francs (Swiss). Dahl was the pilot of a Swissair aircraft which took off from Paris with eight boxes each containing 56 lbs. of gold. On arrival at Geneva airport one of the boxes was missing. When police wanted to interview Dahl, they were unable to trace him as he had left the air company. In the company of his wife, three children and his friend Miss Eppenberger - he was eventually traced, living in expensive hotels in England, Germany and Italy. When they went to Paris recently - they were arrested. Dahl claimed that the arrest was illegal as he was an American citizen and said that he knew nothing about the missing gold.
