On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "This an example of what happens when the enlarger gets what he considers to be a 'balanced' picture. Here a '20 film has been enlarged to between a half and whole plate, by surrounds being cut out. Re-done 'all in p.c.' the result is pretty satisfactory. Can you give it a name? Just 'left', between the girl and the wall, is the entry to a small court of two houses - with name of its own, entered on the 1868 survey. I say this, and forgot to note it; and ever since, this section of the survey has been missing from the set."
