New Bond Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo)

On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "A poor midwinter film and overenlarged. But, like many others in these routes, retained as topographical. Held at arm's length they convey a fairly satisfactory idea of what these areas looked like as seen by the eye. That method gives them the effect of the 20 film print, which in the majority of instances is sharp and clear enough at close range. Here on R. the cottages 14 & 16 in profile. On L. (for close-up see Misc 152) no. 11 with the weird gable, and centre, the old Grammar School with the curved sandstone band bearing the legend 'S. Matthew's Hall 1882'. The roadway, reasonably wide at this point, is narrowed by one half by the Old Grammar School, as seen in the print following."
