The First Moonwalker, 1959. Cartoon depicting a jolly Soviet Luna spacecraft walking on the Moon, carrying explorer's gear, a rolled up Moon map and a red banner bearing the legend “September 1959”. Luna 2 (Moon-2) was the second Soviet spacecraft launched to the Moon in September 1959 . Unlike its predecessor, Luna 1, Luna 2 reached the Moon.
