a geometricizing trend is seen in the polygonal rather than a round shape and in the division on the outside of each facet into three squares. the upper and lower bands of squares have three main patterns. the first is a knotted interlace symmetrical that is around two axes that repeats almost identically. the second is based on an arabesque within a medallion and the third on a chinese lotus. the central band alternates two squares of inscription with the name and title of Quaytbay with two knotted designs.
